Fishing Report 30 August 2010

 As mentioned in previous there is still a lack of game fish and sharks which are normally associated with the sardine run, but there is plenty of shad around as well as a lot of diamond rays.
This year’s shad run continues to be a bumper one and is the best in several years from all the way south in the Transkei up to northern Zululand.

Fishing Report 23 August 2010

The sardines are still full up along the Durban beachfront where many nets were taken.
Garrick, kob and shad have also been caught in fair numbers along the Port Shepstone stretch.
Anglers venturing to the Transkei now can expect some excellent fishing as reports coming from this area suggest that there are lots of shad, garrick and kob around.
Ski Boats are also in on the action with some good bottom fishing being reported. Kob and geelbek have started feeding but general bottom fishing has also been good with some fair size red fish and rock cod being caught.

Believe it or not but they are still netting sardines in Durban! Durban’s biggest sardine run continues to surprise veteran anglers.
This year’s shad run continues to be a bumper and is the best in several years from deep south in the Transkeiall the way up to Cape Vidal.
From the boats the kob and geelbek have been around but not extremely consistent, I think once the sardines move past these fish will hold onto the structured reefs and wrecks and be easier to target.

Fishing Report 9 August 2010

The sardine run is in full swing with more and more of these fish now starting to show up on the south coast.
Besides Durban having one of the better seasons the traditional south coast venues have eventually started producing some good hauls.
Anglers who brave the cold weather and fish at night have recently started getting some nice size kob particularly along the Umgababa and Umkomaas stretches.
