Fishing Report 24 October 2011

At this time of the year, we find that quite a few hard fighting hammerhead sharks have now been reported.
Further up the coast, brusher are being caught at most known spots as well as grey sharks, the odd bone fish and blue skates.
Ski Boats are still experiencing a good season of bottom fish with geelbek and daga salmon making up the bulk of the catch as well as a few snoek of Umgeni River and the odd garrick in the Wesbrook area.
A small reminder from Brettt Hibbert the organizer of the Christmas Classic Bay Fishing competition that will be held on 4th December in Durban Bay.

Fishing Report 17 October 2011

After a few weeks of really bad sea and weather conditions things looks as though they are finally settling. This week saw a lot of north eastley winds which seemed to have turned the fish on.
The only real results are coming from the Zululand beaches where some good specimens of both sand sharks and skates are being reported.
The Transkei which is fishing very well now also starts producing some very big sharks off most of the deep water points.
As far as ski boat fishing is concerned, there have been reports of tuna off Richard Bay and Tugela.

Fishing Report 10 October 2011

Weather and sea conditions for the past week have not been kind to anglers as consistent rain and wind hammered our coastline.
Fishing along the Zululand coast should improve once the weather settles down; over the last week there have been sightings of raggies in the St Lucia / Vidal area.
Bronze bream are on the bite and it would now seem that we are entering the bronze bream season.
On the fresh water side The 12th Phobane Bonanza was held this weekend and the top bass was a magnificent fish of 5.05kgs

Fishing Report 3 October 2011

Brusher seem to have entrenched themselves along the South Coast with the upper south coast areas producing numerous good size fish.
The Durban area itself has for the past few weeks fished very well. When the weather permits garrick and shad are now feeding freely along the Durban North beaches.
On the Fresh water side, bass of over 3kg have been landed at Albert Falls; this is a great time of the year to try your hand at bass fishing. And don't forget the 5th annual bass classic at Mnini dam just outside Amanzimtoti will be held over the weekend of 01st and 2nd October 2011.

Fishing Repot 26 September 2011

Terry Nel reports that some reasonable size shad have been taken during the course of the week and there is news that blue skates are in the area.
On the Ski boat front there has been report of garrick been caught in the Tongaat area. There is still kob and geelbek been landed, when condition are right.
Bass fishing is also in full swing with good catches been made in all of our bigger dam's.
