Fishing Report 25 October 2010

With warmer weather and sea conditions slightly improving, anglers should get some more comfortable fishing done.
Rock and Surf anglers will be interested to hear that a few decent sized sand sharks have made an appearance on the Nonoti stretch even though the water has been between 19 and 21 degrees.
Further south, fishing in the Transkei is still good but the garrick and kob have gone off the boil but as far as shark angling is concerned some good catches of average size hammerhead and grey sharks have been made in the Hole In The Wall area.

October weather is certainly living up to its reputation with mostly very unpredictable weather changes.
The hardcore angler with endless patience can be well rewarded when targeting brusher and bronze bream at this time of the year.
The Fishing Ski fraternity seems to have come to a grinding halt as weather and the lack of game fish at this time of the year makes for extremely hard angling.

Fishing Report 11 October 2010
Garrick are still being caught all along the coast line but amongst the garrick anglers have also landed some good size kob as well as the odd big grunter.
Terry Nel from Tacklenet in Port Edward, informs us that news have just come in that according to measurement, a fine prodigal son of 34 kg's was landed there in Port Edward on Sunday.
During the week a not so common grey chubb of 37cm was caught on sardine as bait and some bronze bream were taken in the Trafalgar area.

The shad ban is now in effect and it seems that the sardines run can now officially be called a thing of the past.
The garrick run is still going strong but activity on the South Coast has slowed down somewhat but anglers on the north and Zululand coasts are still getting their fair share of fish.
The Fishing Ski fraternity seems to have come to a grinding halt as weather and the lack of game fish at this time of the year makes for extremely hard angling.
There is a great spear fishing DVD just launched by some local divers, one of these guys is Brod who is the underwater camera man that films the amazing under water footage that you see on ESA.

Fishing Report 27 September 2010

Eventually, it seems that the sardine run is officially over as there has been no reported activity of these fish for the past week.
Winter fish are still around in the form of garrick, kob and shad making up the main target specie but those anglers who target brusher and bronze bream can also expect some good results.
The annual garrick run is also starting to taper off on the South coast as reports suggest that fewer of these fish are being taken here, but anglers on the North and Zululand coasts are still getting their fair share of fish.
