I’ve always heard of other people’s experiences but have never really had something as un-usual as this happen to me. Please take the time to read this and them you make up your own mind and tell me what are the odds/chances of what happened.
On Sunday 7th February 2010 we went to visit family in Milnerton. They stay very close to Century city. My little boy Kai was playing out side with our dog Sushi, he was walking her on a lead. One of the neighbors has quite a cheeky and slightly aggressive cross breed (although not very big). This unfriendly dog had a go at our dog Sushi, not being aggressive at all she tried to get away and as she was trying to avoid this confrontation she pulled back so hard that she managed to pull her collar with her ID and our telephone number from her neck, leaving our son standing with the lead and collar while she proceed to “BOLT” up the road!
Bottom line one missing dog, lost at Century City! And 2 very upset children and my wife Michelle close to tears from worrying about our other child. We drove around for quite some time, but no luck. The family we were visiting put up posters and drove around with out success, we called the vets in the area as well as the SPCA as she has a chip in her – nothing!
Now here is where things get interesting! I was chatting to a close friend of ours Bertie and told him what happened, he then told he wife and 2 daughters. That night after putting the girls to bed, they over heard their eldest girl, Luanne praying for our dog Sushi, which I must now add – she has only ever seen our dog once or twice and the last time was several months ago! Bertie called early the next morning to tell us that he and Gillian were rather moved by Luanne’s little prayer.
Our two children Kai and Layla were also traumatized by the happening of that Sunday afternoon, but this little voice inside me kept on telling me everything is going to be fine!
Monday – nothing, no calls, no dog
Tuesday – Ditto
Wednesday – no change
Thursday….
Friday….
Saturday afternoon – ring ring…
Now here is where things get a little …..well almost unbelievable!
My phone rings – it’s Bertie huffing and puffing – “call Gillian NOW!”
“Hi, Gillian….
“We think we have just seen your dog…”
Now this is almost impossible as the dog was lost Century City and Betie and Gillian stay in Blouberg close to the Blue Peter hotel!! Anyway Michelle jumps in the car and rushes down to Blouberg to try and find Gillian and the girls. On the way a dog resembling Sushi dashes over the road in front of Michelle. STOP THE LORRY!
Michelle parks jumps out and chase after this dog, from Blouberg to past Dolphin Beach Hotel on foot on soft beach sand, to cut a long story short she eventually catches our dearest Sushi! Six and half days later and about 4kg lighter!
Now here is what I’m asking….what is the chances of
1) Our little Sushi finding her way all the way to Blouberg, looks like she was on here way home?
2) Once loosing a pet in the Century City area, the maize of properties and the amount of people there, what are the chances that the owners actually find their dog, not strangers handing it in, not a vet calling, not the SPCA or police…but the actual owners?
3) This for me is the clincher…Luanne spotted our dog (the same little girl that was praying for her) run past her house while in the garden. Remember she has only seen our dog twice before! Think about the distance covered, the absolute perfect timing to pass the right home while she was in the garden!
After the event and the dog was safely back with us she was talking to Michelle, (and as the saying goes “out of the mouths of babes, comes wisdom”) she looked up at Michelle and simply muttered “Now I know there is a GOD”
So guys what are the odds?
Well that’s our interesting story and testimony, take from it what you like, but never under estimate the power of prayer.
God bless!
